Kathmandu. Week-long World Food Day 2083 events have begun with the aim of empowering voices for food sovereignty and climate justice. Various public awareness and creative programs have started in Kathmandu from Sunday under the coordination of Agriculture for Food campaign.

Organized under the slogan 'Innovate Today, Noris Tomorrow' (Innovate Today, Ensure Nutrition Tomorrow), this year's World Food Day program focuses on the impact of climate-related disasters on agriculture, food systems, farmers' livelihoods and communities.

On the occasion of the 46th World Food Day, a program to increase public awareness through 'artivism' i.e. art has been organized at Sap Falcha in Babarmahal, Kathmandu on Sunday. At the same place, a press conference was also organized and attention was drawn to the issues of food sovereignty, climate justice and the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector.

As part of the program, a street drama will be presented at Shivparvati Double in Basantpur, Kathmandu at 4 pm on Monday. The play aims to bring the issues of agriculture, food rights, climate change and farmers into public debate.

Likewise, a debate, drama, creative presentation, poster and art exhibition will be organized on Tuesday, October 27th, from 1 to 5 pm at the Department of Agriculture at Harihar Bhavan on the topic of 'Yaksha Questions of Food and Farming'.

In connection with the World Food Day, a debate program will also be organized on October 28th under the joint initiative of the Association of Nepali Agricultural Journalists (Grain) and the Agricultural Campaign for Food. The program will discuss the challenges of agriculture and food systems, the impact of climate-related disasters on farmers' livelihoods, food sovereignty and climate justice.

Likewise, the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control will organize the main program of the World Food Day on October 30. Agriculture campaign for food will also be present in the program.

These programs, which are being organized under the coordination of the Agriculture for Food campaign, are expected to increase public awareness about the problems seen in the agricultural sector due to climate change and the impact on the food system, as well as establish the farmers' concerns in the public debate.

World Food Day is celebrated every year on October 16. This day is celebrated with the aim of ending hunger, ensuring food security and establishing access to adequate and nutritious food for all.
